History
Founded in 1967 by the Tulsa Parks and Recreation Department, the Tulsa Community Band has been an integral part of the region’s cultural landscape for more than five decades. The ensemble is organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and is dedicated to providing high-quality musical performances that serve and enrich the Tulsa community.
Comprised of volunteer musicians from diverse professions and backgrounds, the band rehearses weekly and presents concerts year-round at civic celebrations, community events, and public venues. Through its performances, the Tulsa Community Band preserves the tradition of community music-making, fosters lifelong participation in the arts, and contributes to the cultural vitality of the city by ensuring that live music remains available and engaging for audiences of all ages.
